State Worthy President Message Regarding Covid-19 in the State of Florida
Brothers and Sisters:
As the United States is faced with the concern of the Coronavirus known as COVID-19, I feel it is important to speak on this topic with all of our membership here in the Florida State Aerie.
I want to be very clear that I do not take this matter lightly. In detailing some important actions that our State Governor is taking relative to the virus, I want to assure our brothers and sisters that I continue discussions weekly with the DBPR to ensure the necessary steps are being taken to reopen our Aeries as soon as possible while they maintain a state of preparedness for not just us, but for our family and friends too.
The direction given to businesses and the Florida public form the Governor’s office are predominantly derived from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations and the Florida Department of Health (DOH).
As I, along with all your State Officers constantly monitor and assess this situation. The State of Florida has already taken several steps to limit exposure potentials. This includes closing our Aeries.
In addition to these steps, I have sent communications to all local leadership to share the most current and verified information with our members. All too many times, many of our local Aeries receive false or misleading information from other organizations via Social Media that is not correct which states that we may open our “clubs” [not Aeries] solely because of their food permits and sadly enough, each time this has been found to be incorrect.
In addition to focusing on reopening our Aeries as soon as practical, I know that many Aeries and other fraternal organizations have already reopened or are in the phase of reopening prior to any official correspondence. As your State President, I am not advising any Aerie to violate any state mandate nor do I condone such action. Your State Aerie leadership is asking that if this is happening, please be diligent in maintaining a constant watch on the potential spread of COVID-19 to ensure any new challenges are recognized and reacted to accordingly in your home Aeries for the safety of our brothers and sisters.
I also want to spend a moment to talk about basic and simple hygiene practices that, according to the CDC, we can all practice to help each other maintain a level of potential protection against the spread of any and all viruses, including COVID-19:
Through Solidarity we will protect our families, Aeries, and keep our economic stability of our Aeries flowing.
In Solidarity, I am fraternally yours,
SL (Steve) Silvestro Jr.
Florida State Aerie President

- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap is not available with at least 60% alcohol.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or cloth when you sneeze or cough
- And finally, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Through Solidarity we will protect our families, Aeries, and keep our economic stability of our Aeries flowing.
In Solidarity, I am fraternally yours,
