How it All Began ...
The Florida Eagles Dog Chain Club was founded at the 1994 Florida State Eagles Convention.
Past Grand Worthy President and Past Florida State Worthy President E.L. Bud Collette and his wife, Past State Madam President Connie Collette were the founding members of the "club" along with eight additional members. The members decided to adopt a meaningful project within the state and decided to support Service-Type Dogs. In June 1999, we sponsored our first Service - Seeing-Eye Dog named "Rocky." Since that time, we have sponsored Seeing-Eye Dogs, Service and Companion Dogs through numerous foundations and institutions. To date we have directly sponsored over a dozen Dogs. In addition, we have supported several law enforcement organizations by purchasing bulletproof Dog Vests. What We Do ...

How We Raise Funds ...
Funds are raised at both the local and state levels to support our initiatives.
Each local Aerie is encouraged to hold a fundraising event to help support the Florida Dog Chain Club. At the state level the club holds raffles at state meetings and functions as well as collecting can “tabs” for recycling. Funds raised can be sent to the Florida State Aerie Secretary. How To Become a Member ...
Membership in the Dog Chain Club is by invitation from the current members. If you are interested in becoming a member, let as many of the current members that you know that you are interested and what you have done in support of the club.
Each year, at our annual meeting, during the Florida State Eagles Convention, each current member in attendance is allowed to recommend one candidate for membership. The Aerie Dog Chain members each recommend an Aerie candidate and the Auxiliary Dog Chain members each recommend an Auxiliary candidate - Then there is a Blind Draw from the recommended candidates to select the individuals that will be inducted. So, the more members you can get to recommend your name the better are your chances of being chosen! Candidates are inducted into the club at the banquet on Saturday night at the State Convention. The are given a nice "Dog Chain" that is purposely chilled "ICE COLD” for the occasion. |
